Wish of a Lifetime is a non-profit organization that grants life-enriching wishes to senior citizens across the country. Ginny Smith, an 87 year-old woman, has been a lifelong NASCAR fan and was given the opportunity to ride like a Nascar driver through the Speedway’s Richard Petty Ride Along Experience. Ginny’s passion for the track dates back to when she met her husband, Mason, on the race tracks. Ginny told me all about their honeymoon at the Daytona Speedway and how much the track had changed over the years. (She knew more about that track than the tour guides!) Ginny and her husband Mason rebuilt and raced street-registered BMWs… (how cool is that!?) They also enjoyed attending the Daytona 500 and Speedweek until about 12 years ago, when Mason’s health issues began. Sadly, Mason passed away in 2015.
